Some interesting stuff’s come up this past week. Where to begin…

Well for one I’m going to be on television! Well, public access TV, but TV nonetheless. A very good friend of mine asked me to be part of a show he’s making, and I didn’t hesitate to say yes. I’m doing graphical work for the show as well as acting. So my horrible voice and mug shot is going to appear to the people in the surrounding towns. Oh what joy.

Also getting my feet wet with training for the jerb. ASP .NET is… a beast… which cannot be fed. Very tricky, and aggravating, but rewarding once I understand the new concepts I pick up every day. It beats coding in raw HTML or CSS any day.

And I’m working on a new comic strip. Extending the funneh and amusement from my “Fail!” strip, it should be fun to make.

And… an update on George, my new cat. He’s effectively eradicated the mouse problem I’ve been having. Thank god. It’s been just over a month, and there’s some quirks that need to be worked out, hopefully soon.

He’s definitely part Bengal. He pounces EVERYTHING, except for me. He’s scaled his scratching post, which is a good 30 inches tall with a very small platform on top. That tells me I need to get him a tall cat tree. Also, he’s claimed a spot on the couch which is his official sleeping spot. He loves when I give him attention and praise. He greets me every day when I come home, and he purrs a lot.

But some bad stuffs that I have to iron out: he hates getting his claws cut. So I’m going to have to take him somewhere to get it done by pros. Scratches are never fun. And… this drives me nuts. He’s developed a really bad habit of meowing and howling for me to come downstairs and sit with him on the couch. That’s also where all the heaters are in the house. All my compy materials are upstairs where I do my work, paintings, etcetera. I’ve tried several things, for instance, ignore him for one until he’s quiet so I train him that being noisy is bad. However he starts to run around everywhere knocking things over, and start mrowing at stuff rather loudly, finally creating such a ruckus that I pick up the things he knocks over.

So then the next logical thing is: “Why don’t I move my stuff downstairs?”. That’s coming next, as I’m getting a new computer next week. As well as a proper ‘office’ L-shape hutch desk in February. I hate this small desk I’m currently working from. Well, out with the old, in with the new. And it’ll all go downstairs.

In regards with the new compy, I builds it myself! Blegh, to get this A+ cert, I have to stay current, as the exam is going to update any day now for 2009. I’d rather not get the 2006 cert as there’s no point. Windows Vista isn’t part of the 2006 exam, nor does it cover anything with PCI-express or any new technology since, well, 2006. And, with Windows 7 just around the corner… whee. Speaking of which, the beta for it just came out on the 9th, and with the unprecedented amount of people downloading it to try it, I can safely say this is going to be the next ‘big’ Windows version, bigger and better than Vista.

And, I can’t wait for Inauguration day. 5 days to go!!
