Biography & FAQ

Some questions that people have asked about me. I'm always adding to the list, so if you have a question, don't hesitate to ask!

So what's my name and how did I get it?: Bri Rock. It started way back in High school, where people in one of my classes started playing around with names. They got to me and then started calling me just that: The Bri Rock. So it stuck and the rest is history.

What's my age?: I'm 24 years old. Surprisingly enough, my B-day lands on "U.S. Earth Day." The day where we say to ourselves that we're all going to do something for the environment, but never get around to it.

Where do I live?: Too close to New York City. I live in the countryside nearby.

What's my job?: I am a Software developer at a well renowned company in my area. I make stuff for clients.

What are your likes?
Movies that contribute to Brain-cell loss.
I like science fiction because one day that fiction can become fact.
I like to construct things, build things, I like to create stuff. Be it paintings, drawings, wood construction, sculptures, computers, programs, websites, anything that can be created!
Tea. I'm a big fan of it. Not the tea bagged stuff, I mean the really good loose ground brew-in-basket stuff. The best!
Eastern Food. That stuff is addictive!

What are your dislikes?
Forums. I understand their purpose, to bring people together in intelligent discussion. However today, most forums including deviantArt's, lack this intelligence. Every time I wish to participate in a forum, people e-fight and belittle one another at every turn. So I rarely post anything.
Commercially produced fantasy. Books and Games are iffy, I'll give them a shot, but I don't like fantasy movies. Usually the mythical subject dies, or is evil, or the movie is milked for all the money it can get at the box office...
Politics. I follow politics closely and I hate it. It's a necessary evil. Try arguing your position on something to someone else. And then try to do just that on the internet. Then try doing it in a forum. See how far you get.

How did I get into arts?: I started a long time ago, probably when I was 8. I would just screw around and draw stuff that made little to no sense. Comics, cartoons, random text, stuff, etc etc. I started getting serious about it when I entered college and met *evildoomkitty. I took one drawing course and one painting course, and the sky has been the limit since then.

Why do I make art? I make art to make art.

What do I use to draw?: I've done alot of Freelance stuff. I do mechanical pencil sketches in a sketchbook, I've done Impressionist works with Acrylics on canvas before, but my favorite is using a Wacom Intuos-3 8x6 tablet in Photoshop CS3. I've recently picked up Corel Painter X and have been having success.

Can I critique something you made? Absolutely! Please feel free to write constructive criticism on my pictures. I'll appreciate that you spotted mistake(s) I goofed on. I'll get better if I know!
